Matthew
6:19-24 Explained
by Ron Davis, minister of Christ Jesus
Matthew 6:21, "For
where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" is another
Scripture these
peddlers of God's word love to use to make the followers of Christ feel guilty
about giving money to them:
Now, this one in Matthew
6 which says "where
your treasure is, there your heart will be also" in verse 21; these
gospel peddlers always try to make you feel guilty if you do not give them your
money. They give sermons in such a way that they wish for you to believe
that "if your heart is with God then you would give to them and their
human organization". And if you do not, then your heart must not be
with God. I ask them and you these questions, who said these peddlers of God’s
word represent God?
Are these verses speaking
of tithing or spiritual treasures? Is this chapter speaking of just money? Or
is it speaking of those who seek wealth who are Christians rather the kingdom
of Christ? I mean read these verses again for yourself in context they do not
speak of giving these self-appointed ministers any of your money. I mean, what
is the meaning of verse 24 in this same chapter? Notice, the phrases "treasures
on earth", "treasures in heaven", "lamp of the body is the
eye", "eye is good", "eye is bad", "full of
light", "full of darkness", "no one can serve
two masters", and "you cannot serve God and mammon".
All of these phrases help us to determine and understand what Christ is
speaking about. And gives us the proper context in which it is our "spiritual
life or treasures" He’s speaking of, not giving our money to some
minister who is peddling the word of God.
More specifically, these
gospel peddlers should know that these verses are speaking to them because they
are the ones who treasure your tithes and offerings more than they treasure the
word of God. They are lying up for themselves treasures on earth rather than
spiritual treasures in heaven such as "good works" and having
an eye that is good rather than bad.
Let us look also at Luke
12, where we have
the corresponding verses written in this gospel. The Holy Spirit gives us even
more clarity by using the phrases "sell what
you have and give alms", and "a treasure in the heavens".
These verses prove what I have been saying all along, and what the Holy
Scriptures have been crying out for ages; however, these gospel peddlers
will have you to believe otherwise because they seek a financial gain from the
word of God. They will try and convince you these verses mean give them
money or their human organization money rather than give to those in need.
The word translated as "alms"
in verse 33 is from the original Greek word "eleemosune", Strong's Number 1654. Its phonetic
spelling is "el-eh-ay-mos-oo'-nay".
The meaning of the word is this: "mercy, pity; especially as
exhibited in giving alms, charity, the benefaction itself, a
donation to the poor". It is translated in the KJV as "alms
13 times and almsdeeds 1 time"; but in the NAS
(New American Standard version) as "alms 7
times, charity 3 times, giving 1 time". The word is translated as "charity"
in other parts of this version and other versions of the Bible, as we see
it means "charity" in the Greek, this makes its translation in
the English to mean giving to those in need - beggars. These verses make it
very plain that Christ was speaking about the Church (the Flock) seeking the
kingdom of God rather than laying up money on this earth. Notice, Christ tells
the Church, the flock of God to sell what they have and "give
alms" to the poor (not to some self-appointed gospel peddler - begging
for money to preach). Nowhere does these verses
proclaim that self-appointed ministers have the right to demand that you give
to their human organization going by the name of a church, as if God gave them
this authority - there is no authority for them to collect tithes from you.
Amen. Praise God.
Evangelist
Ron Davis, a Minister of Christ, of the Kush Edifying Ministries proclaims the
whole counsel of God. This ministry believes in the command of Jesus to His
disciples in Matthew 10:7-8 "As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom
of heaven is near.' Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse
those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely
give" (NIV). Jesus commands us as ministers to preach "freely"
the word without demanding those preached to give to you.
